Goochland County is a predominately rural county located in the Piedmont Plateau region in central Virginia. Situated less than thirty minutes west of the City of Richmond and an hour east of Charlottesville, Goochland County offers residents a variety of unique experiences in the beauty of central Virginia’s scenic piedmont region. The county is 289 square miles in area. The James River flows the entire length of the county and forms its southern boundary.

Recreation

The County provides an array of choices that accommodate residents of every age: an eclectic lineup of festivals, wineries and microbreweries, outdoor recreation, farmers markets, dining, music, arts and entertainment, bed & breakfasts and access to 40 miles of James River, which borders the county and several public access points.
